Many Tri-City Volunteers seniors, single-parent households and low-income/minimum wage earning families face overwhelming challenges. We rely on you and our generous community of supporters to help us meet the immediate needs of these households.
Running a food or clothing drive is a great way to work towards ending poverty in the Tri-Cities and Southern Alameda County. It’s also a great experience for your club, school, church or workplace.
What to Do
- Let your group know that together we can provide families with the means to rise above hunger poverty.
- Choose what you are going to collect. Here’s a list of our most needed items:
- Good quality clothing, furniture and household items
Clean and gently used clothing, shoes and fashion accessories are always in high demand, particularly professional work clothes, and women’s clothing and shoes. Blankets, sheets, towels and most household items are also appreciated, as are home wares and books in good condition. - Food and groceries
Grains, cereals, juice, tea, coffee, salad dressings and condiments in plastic containers (glass is too dangerous to pack and bag), granola bars, dried fruits and nuts and soups are great. Diapers and toilet paper donations are also accepted. - Recyclables
We have an excellent e-waste facility, so why not collect old computers, printers, televisions, and appliances for the good of our community - Plastic and paper bags
Tri-City Volunteers food bank and thrift store is always in need of clean paper and plastic grocery bags. - Financial donations
Tax deductible gifts permit Tri-City Volunteers food bank and thrift store to invest in the programs and services our community needs most.
- Good quality clothing, furniture and household items
- Decide on start and end dates for the drive and let your friends, family and co-workers know when you will be collecting. We can drop off collection barrels at your request and collect donations when you’re done. We also provide tax receipts for you and your donors.
- Challenge your group to set a goal for how many items they will collect. All donations, however, no matter how big or small, make a difference and help enormously.
- Celebrate your achievement. Take photos with all your collected items and share them with us. Tri-City Volunteers will publish them on Facebook and acknowledge the unique contribution your group has made.
